NASCAR heads to Texas Motor Speedway this weekend with all three of the top series.   This weekend's All Star Race is the second consecutive year that the 1.5 mile track has held.

As usual the NASCAR Truck Series is the first to take the track at Texas. The last time that the NASCAR Truck Series visited Texas Motor Speedway was June 2021 which saw John Hunter Nemechek winning from the pole.  The Truck series practice session begins today at 4 PM Eastern with Qualifying immediately following airing on FS1.   All trucks will be impounded following qualifying.  According to Jayski there are 38 trucks entered for the 36 truck field, to two trucks will miss tonight's race.

Tonight's SpeedyCash.com 220 NASCAR Truck Series Race from Texas Motor Speedway will begin at 8:30 PM Eastern airing on FS1, or you can listen on MRN/Sirius XM.

This afternoon will also have the NASCAR Xfinity Series on track with practice beginning at 6 PM Eastern and qualifying immediately following airing on FS1.   There are 39 entries for the SRS Distribution 250, so one car will miss the show.   Qualifying for the Xfinity Series will be single car qualifying with all entries getting 1 lap each.   All cars will be impounded following qualifying.

The last time the Xfinity Series visited Texas Motor Speedway, Kyle Busch took home the win for his 99th win in the Xfinity Series.   The SRS Distribution 250 will begin tomorrow, May 21st, at 1:30 PM Eastern airing on FS1, or you can listen on PRN/Sirius XM.

The big event of this weekend is the NASCAR All Star Race.   Personally I'm still used to the All Star weekend being held at Charlotte Motor Speedway the weekend prior to Memorial Day Weekend; however, the race was moved to Bristol Motor Speedway in 2020 and then to Texas Motor Speedway last year.  As mentioned previously this is the second year that the All Star Race has been held in Texas.   Last year's All Star Race was won by Kyle Larson for a 10th All Star win for Hendrick Motorsports.

The Cup Series will hold their practice session tomorrow, May 21st, beginning at 7 PM Eastern.   The practice session will be a combined session of the cars that are locked into the All Star race and the cars that are in the Open.

Following the practice, the cars that will be in the Open will have their qualifying session.  The sixteen cars that are in the Open are drivers that have not won a race in 2021 or 2022 and are not past All Star winners or Cup Series champions.   The starting order for the Open will be determined by single car, one lap qualifying.

The Open will be held as the last chance qualifier for the All Star Race on Sunday, May 22nd, beginning at 5:30 PM Eastern airing on FS1, or you can listen on MRN/Sirius XM.  The race will be a 50 lap shootout with three stages of 20 laps, 20 laps, and a final stage of 10 laps.  The winner of each stage will advance to the All Star race and will not have to complete the rest of The Open.  Of the drivers that don't qualify for The Open, there will be a fan vote and the winner of that will advance to the All Star Race as well to round out the 24 car field.

The All Star qualifying session will be Saturday, May 21st, and will be in two parts.   The first part will be all cars with one lap, single car qualifying.   The top eight drivers, based on times, will move to a three round elimination bracket of two driver, head-to-head matchups with a four tire pit stop.

The All Star Race will follow The Open on Sunday, May 22, with four stages of 25 laps, 25 laps, 25 laps, and 50 laps.  Laps between stages do not count; however, if a driver pits during the stage break the position will be changed based on pit exit.

The final stage starting order will be determined based on the previous stages.   The stage 1 winner will start on the pole followed by the winner of stage 2 and the winner of stage 3 as long as the drivers finish 15th or better in the following stages.

After the second stage all teams will be required to complete a four tire pit stop and the driver with the fastest time from pit in to pit out will start the final stage in fourth position, as long as the driver finishes in the top 15 in stage three.

Finally, if there is no caution between laps 15 and 25 in the final stage, NASCAR will throw a caution at lap 25.

Again this race will follow The Open which airs at 5:30 PM Eastern on FS1 or you can listen on MRN/Sirius XM.
